Ephesians 5:19 says, "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord."
The music ministry at Hermitage Baptist Church is a vital part of our worship experience. Music offers an opportunity for our members to praise our heavenly Father. Several organized groups participate in this mission:
- The Adult Choir, led by Mr. Jerome Ogburn, practices weekly on Wednesday nights at 7:30. This group leads in the Sunday morning worship services, and schedules special performances throughout the year.
- The Children's Choir, led by Ms. Teresa Marsh, practices weekly on Wednesday nights at 6:30. Children in grades 1 - 5 work to perform a drama in December and May.
- The Preschool Choir, led by Mrs. Tracy Brown, practices weekly on Wednesday nights at 6:30. Children 3, 4, and 5 years of age learn to sing songs to God.
Everything we do under the umbrella of the music ministry at Hermitage is for the glory of God alone. He is our intended audience. He is the one we want to point the members to. He is the one worthy of our praise.
Psalm 100
1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
